True North Cedar is especially proud to offer hand-peeled, natural-form house logs and siding. We appreciate the unique art of every custom home and cabin built log by log. To that end, rest assured that northern white cedar is your best choice for lasting beauty.
Northern White Cedar Logs are . . .
Virtually All Heartwood –– The thin layer of sapwood (usually only 1” on a 12” diameter log) is removed during sawing and peeling process. The remaining heartwood does not split, check or bleed, as pine and red cedar do.
Highly Insulative –– White cedar is rated at over 1.4 R-value per inch, a natural insulation bonus created by the species’ closed-cell structure.
Bug and Rot Resistant –– Thanks to white cedar’s naturally occurring oils and closed cells, bugs and moisture stay out.
True North Cedar hand-selects the true essence of the Great North Woods – large, long and straight logs. Our house logs are air dried for approximately six months to properly balance moisture content.
All logs, beams and timbers have some wane on them, unless otherwise specified.
