100% Recycled Red Cedar Shingles

If you really want red cedar but can’t support the logging of the last of the ancient old growth trees in the Pacific Northwest this is the solution to your dilemma.  Except for True North Cedar Recycled, all red cedar shingles are produced from the ancient forest.

2nd 3rd and 4th cutting cycle white cedar produces shingles of the same quality as the trees first cut by the early New Englanders. Today it is even common to see fifth generation logs providing the same high quality white cedar products as the first settlers discovered from this miracle wood. Unlike white cedar, which has a thirty five to seventy year harvest cycle Red Cedar takes much longer to mature, the properties of the wood are dramatically different from Old Growth and not suitable for shingles.

“AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH”

All Western Red Cedar Shingles are produced from Old Growth Trees!

True North Cedar harvests old bridge piling, timbers, and utility poles to remanufacture into fine 100% recycled shingles, lumber and timbers. These materials are uniquely suited for projects seeking LEEDS certification as well as for homeowners who won’t compromise their environmental standards.

We guarantee these products to equal the quality of any materials from the fresh cut ancient forest. Indeed they too came from ancient trees, but historically have been sacrificed to the landfill. This precious irreplaceable resource is available to you exclusively from True North Cedar Inc.
