Northern white cedar out-performs western red cedar:
• Strong, resilient fibrous quality. Less brittle, less likely to split or crack.
• Resists decay better than any other species, except cypress. Northern white cedar fences frequently last over 100 years.
• Remains stable even flat sawn. Northern white cedar, at all grades, will not cup or curl.
• Accepts stain and paint evenly with superior penetration and without blotching.
• Left untreated, northern white cedar will acquire a silver-grey patina.

Our unique Northern Minnesota resource of mature white cedar is uniquely suited to outdoor structures. We specialize in large and long white cedar logs and timbers – perfect for pergolas, house logs, port cocheres. Sustainably harvested, this is the premium, slow-grown material.
Unlike red cedar or redwood, white cedar weathers to a beautiful natural silver gray and does not have the tendency to crack and warp as the west coast species do. Lightweight, resilient, and strong, our slow-grown white cedar is the ideal material for your outdoor structures, large or small.
